ABPMpro

Introduction

ABPMpro Cardiodiagnostic product imageABPMpro® is a validated, multi-sensor device for the ambulatory (24h) measurement of oscillometric (cuff) blood pressure, beat-to-beat (continuous) blood pressure, actigraphy, 3-channel ECG, respiration rate, sleep arrousals and body position.
ABPMpro® contains multiple sensors, which are all connected to a central clock, resulting in time-synchronous recording of all sensor data.

Sensors include an oscillometric transducer, photoplethysmogram (ppg), activity, accelerometry and gyroscope sensor, 1-channel and 3-channel ECG recording units, body position sensors for thorax and arm position.

The continuous (beat-to-beat) recording of blood pressure is based on the concept of pulse transit time (PTT - also referred to as pulse arrival time - PAT), in which the traveling time of the pulse wave from the proximal to the distal site is measured and changes of this traveling time are translated into changes of blood pressure. An increase in PTT reflects a decrease in blood pressure and vice versa. The proximal time point is generated by the ECG wave form (corrected for the pre-ejection period derived from impedance cardiography), whereas the distal time point is defined by the optical pulse wave as recorded with the PPG sensor, which is placed beneath the cuff.

The availability of these expanded amount of data allows for imroved diagnostics in clinical settings and offers a firm base for answering numerous research questions. All data is made available in raw data export formats, such as ASCII, RIFF and EDF – all data can be used for additional analyses, such as holter ECG interpretation and/or pulse wave analysis (external software applies).

Models and Configurations

ABPMpro® is available in three different models:

  • ABPMpro® classic model
  • ABPMpro® cardio model
  • ABPMpro® research model

The classic model forms the base ABPM device, including the following features:

  • No tube, the recording unit is attached directly to the upper-arm cuff
  • Inflation-/deflation measurement, the monitor is able to measure blood pressure during continued cuff inflation and/or deflation phase (or intelligent, deflation measurement only when inflation fails)
  • Actigraphy and accelerometry measurment
  • Body position measurement using the sensor in the recording unit
  • 1-channel-ECG recording for the measurement of heart rate variability using the electrodes inside the cuff

The cardio model includes all the features of the classic models and adds

  • 3-channel ECG recording using the external electrodes
  • Body position measurement using the sensor placed on the thorax
  • Impedance cardiography measurement allowing for computation of respiration rate and pre-ejection period

The research model includes all features of the classic and cardio models and adds

  • PPG sensor allowing for the computation of continuous (beat-to-beat) blood pressure
  • PPG sensor allowing for teh computation of sleep arrousals
  • Research software allowing for the export of all signal raw data (ASCII, RIFF, EDF)

Upgrades from one model to another can be processed at any time. The ABPMpro® technology is fully validated according to the ISO81060-2:2018 standard. Taking into account the enormous amount of signal measurement data and the patient-friendly design (no tubing / shorter measurement time / 125 gram leight weight), we truly consider this technology to become the new gold-standard in ambulatory blood pressure monitoring – be part of the future of ABPM!
